Marie Richard at Freecycle.org dropped us a note to welcome people to her site. From the site: The Freecycle Network™ is made up of many individual groups across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. The idea is that people who want to get rid of stuff put it up, and are happy to have other members take it away. Might be a good source for some temporary furniture.
